I love Tyrannamen. So much.
I played a gig alongside them a couple of years ago and watched their set, not having heard anything about them prior. The first song was barely a few chords in, and I was hooked.
I queried Tom from Harmony about them, as he had organised the show. He told me they only play about once a year, as a few of the band members are in busy bands like The Twerps and The Stevens.
I made a note to follow the Tyrannamen facebook page and keep an eye on their developments.
Over the past year, they released some music on a cassette and refused to make it available digitally. This was both admirable and irritating to me (I don’t own a boombox and only just rid myself of cassettes, vowing never to go back). It also only added to their cool mystique.
ANYWAY, the good news is that they have finally released their debut self-titled album on VINYL!

It looks like this:
If you dig Royal Headache, The Dictators or Reigning Sound, I can give you a no honk guarantee that you would love Tyrannamen.
To simplify it massively, they play rough and ready garage punk, with pop and soul influencing the sound. You can expect short and sweet lead breaks, pop harmonies, a killer rhythm section and a charismatic and dynamic frontman in Nic Imfeld, who has a knack for writing earworm melodies.
They’re launching their excellent album at The Tote on Sat April 2, supported by Tommy T & The Classical Mishaps, Spotting & more TBA!
