Tom Busy from Tasmania’s mighty Luca Brasi has a little chinwag with us ahead of their gig tonight at Max Watts!

1. If you had to re-imagine your sound as a food, how would you describe it?
Smooth peanut butter on white bread.

2. And as an animal?
A koala. Undoubtedly Australian, kinda dopey, sometimes vicious.

3. And as a TV series character?
Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. “We are no one”.

4. What’s one of your favourite musical moments? give us a youtube link and a precise point.

The whole last half of ‘Choked & Separated’ by Hot Water Music is amazing! “If this is what we’re doing? What are we doing?” Chris sings with such heart and intensity, I love it! The accompanying scrappy guitars just add to the whole vibe.

5. MINI MIX-TAPE
Make us a mini youtube mixtape!

6. THE GOOD SON GAME
Refer to this classic scene from “The Good Son”.
You have 2 great artists hanging over the edge of the cliff, and you have one hand hanging on to each of them. They’re both slipping. You need to let go of one artist to save the other, or lose them both. Time’s a-tickin’.
The one you drop will now only exist in your mind, you can never hear their songs again.

Who do you drop?

FUGAZI or BIG BLACK
I’ll save Fugazi and drop Big Black, because Fugazi are so mad and I’ve never listened to Big Black (sorry Steve Albini)

THE RUNAWAYS or HEART
Save The Runaways and drop Heart. Tough one because Barracuda has a mad chugging gallop on the guitar, which is always a good thing. But… The Runaways have heaps of massive tunes. I want to be mates with Joan Jett. I saw her play at Falls a few years back and she shreds!

THE RAMONES or AC/DC
Save The Ramones and drop AC/DC. Tough call. But The Ramones have been a big part of my life and played a huge role in shaping of a lot of my favourite music. I do feel terrible about dropping AC/DC, though.

7. What’s in your musical pipeline this year?

We are currently touring with our best buds The Smith Street Band. After that we do a headline tour with Moose Blood from the UK and The Hard Aches. Then we are off to Europe and the UK throughout September and October with Moose Blood, as well as Turnover, Boston Manor and Pup. Really excited about hitting the road with some great bands!

8. What can we expect to see at your next gig?

Four sweaty Tasmanian’s playing a few jams.
