Q&A with Sean Pollard (vocalist)
1. If you had to reimagine your sound as a food, how would you describe it?
Nice detailed Shepherds Pie with lots of vegies and a bit too much BBQ sauce (that’s the secret).
2. And as an animal?
Fraser Island Dingo. Rare, mysterious and feared but you can also read about them on the backs of toilet doors.
3. And as a TV series character?
Sylvio Dante from The Sopranos. Loyal and long serving; never in the limelight but mostly getting it done. Open ended fate too.
4. What’s one of your favourite musical moments? give us a youtube link and a precise point.
The part in Sister jack by Spoon where it switches to 5/4 in the outro out of nowhere (around 3:03) . Very good air drum moment.
5. MINI MIX-TAPE
Make us a mini youtube mixtape!
6. THE GOOD SON GAME
Imagine your own version of this classic scene from “The Good Son”.
You have 2 great artists hanging over the edge of the cliff, and you have one hand hanging on to each of them. They’re both slipping. You need to let go of one artist to save the other, or lose them both. Time’s a-tickin’.
The one you drop will now only exist in your mind, you can never hear their songs again.
Who do you drop?
BOB DYLAN or NEIL YOUNG
Drop Neil every day.
RYAN ADAMS or JEFF TWEEDY
I flew to Melbourne when I was 17 to see Ryan Adams at the Forum but I’d still probably drop him.
SEX PISTOLS or THE CLASH
Drop Sex Pistols. Has anyone dropped The Clash? Surely not.
7. What’s in your musical pipeline this year?
We’re putting out our second album called Rest and Relocation in June, after which we’ll do a few shows and see how we go. It’ll be nice to be playing again – we’ve been trapped in the studio for ages.
8. What can we expect to see at your next gig?
Just a bunch of froth dogs looking for some easy times.
