Melbourne Polytechnic Fairfield is adding a brand new degree, The Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production, and we think it’s something you folks might be interested in.
Caroline Kennedy (Deadstar, Caroline No, The Plums) is the mastermind behind the creation of the course and will also bring her wealth of experience in the music biz to the classroom as a senior lecturer. Kennedy states “we teach emerging songwriters, composers and music producers, and we teach them as artists. We believe that however you choose to express yourself musically is valid, and we frame our pursuit of excellence with an understanding of contemporary music as an artform.”
Learn about songwriting and composition, recording and producing, music history and a whole heap of other awesome subjects curated to give new musicians all the info they need to succeed. Joining Kennedy, other lecturers include songwriter and performer Laura Jean (also Amateur Hour’s resident tv chef!) and Antonia Sellbach (Beaches, Love of Diagrams), music industry champs Ben O’Connor (co-director of Chapter Music, manager for Architecture In Helsinki, Twerps, Power) Tony Dupe (studio engineer/producer for Holly Throsby, Jack Ladder, Sui Zhen) and more!
This isn’t your standard degree, and as such they are kicking things off with an official course launch party….Fun!
